SERV Presentation at Welwyn Festival

The Problem with SERV is that once you do one thing it always leads to another. There I was happily
going about my business collecting money at Sainsbury’s in Dunstable on a Sunday when I get a call
from John Wigglesworth asking me if I could go to Welwyn for a cheque Presentation as I had the SERV
Pan in my possession. John did state that he would do it but it would mean cancelling Route Training
with a new member. I told John I would have to ask the Boss and see if I was allowed out to play. Guess
what she let me, now I really am in something deep and smelly.
I arranged to meet John Winchester outside his house who would show me the way to the Hall where the Presentation is taking place.  We were one of six charities named for a share of the £3000 profits from the Welwyn Festival that we attended back on the 26th June. The Air Ambulance took the majority of the money with other Charities getting £500 each while we received £250, which was gratefully accepted.
While talking to other Charity members it always surprises them to know that we do this service free of
charge and receive nothing back from the NHS and that our main source of income is from the generosity of the public and like minded groups such as the Welwyn Festival Committee.
John Winchester did me a big favour by standing up in front of all his peers to tell them about us to
which I am eternally grateful for.       Roy Snelling.
